Privacy Policy

Who we are

peadf is a UK based service that lets you edit, share and manage PDFs. For anything to do with your privacy or your data, email privacy@peadf.com. We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you use peadf, that can be:

• Your email address, if you create an account. This is held for us by AWS Cognito and is used to sign you in, secure your account and send you essential service messages.
• Files and settings you choose to share. If you turn a PDF into a hosted link or QR code, that file and its settings are stored on our servers so the link keeps working. See Hosted files below.
• Payment records, if you subscribe. We keep a record that you are a paying customer and your subscription status, but never your card details. See Payments below.
• Basic view counts for links you host, so you can see how many times your shared PDF has been opened.

What stays on your device

All of the PDF tools, editing text, merging, splitting, compressing, filling forms, redacting, signing and OCR, run entirely inside your browser. When you use these free tools, your file is never uploaded to us. It is opened, processed and saved back on your own computer. We never see it, store it or send it anywhere.

The only time a PDF leaves your device is if you deliberately choose to share it as a hosted link or QR code.

Hosted files

When you share a PDF as a link or QR code, you are asking us to host it. To do that we store the file itself, plus its settings, such as the link, title and any options you set, on our servers. Anyone who has the link can view the file, so only share links you are happy for others to see.

You stay in control. You can swap the file behind a link, update its settings, or delete it at any time from your dashboard. When you delete a hosted file, we remove it from active storage.

Payments

Paid subscriptions are handled by Stripe, a specialist payments provider. When you subscribe, your card details are entered directly with Stripe and never touch peadf's servers. We receive only what we need to run your subscription, for example a customer reference and whether your payment succeeded. Stripe processes your payment data under its own privacy terms.

Cookies and local storage

We keep cookies to a minimum and do not use them to track you across other sites. peadf uses your browser's own storage for things that make the app work:

• A sign in session, so you stay logged in as you move around the app.
• A local editor unlock, stored in your browser, so a paid feature you have unlocked stays ready for you on that device without asking every time.

This information lives on your device. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out and reset these local settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which tools get used. This never includes the content of your PDFs, which stay on your device. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4, and we do not use analytics data to build advertising profiles about you. Beyond that, the only metric we keep is the simple view count on hosted links.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account email for as long as you have an account. Hosted files and their settings are kept until you delete them or close your account. You can delete individual hosted files yourself at any time.

To close your account and have your personal data removed, email privacy@peadf.com. We may keep limited records where the law requires it, for example basic billing records for tax purposes.

Your rights

Because peadf is UK based, your personal data is handled under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Ask us to delete your personal data.
• Object to or restrict how we use your data, and ask us to move it elsewhere.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@peadf.com. If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For anything significant, we will let you know.
