Send a PDF for signature
Send a PDF for signature with a link. Upload the PDF, copy its signing link and send it to anyone. They sign in their browser with no account and no app, then download the signed copy and send it back to you.
The signed copy comes back to you from the signer, as a reply to your message: peadf doesn't collect it and doesn't record who signed. That suits everyday paperwork, such as order forms, permission slips or timesheets, better than contracts that need a formal signing trail.
- The signer needs no account and nothing to install
- Signing runs in their browser: the signed copy stays with them
- Free plan available: sending needs a free account
What you can do with Send for Signature
- Upload a PDF and get its signing link in one step, ready to copy or send by email
- Send the link to anyone: they open it in their browser with no account and no app
- Signers draw, type or upload their signature and drag it into place on any page
- Signers can add more than one signature to the same copy, such as initials on several pages
- The signed PDF downloads to the signer's device, or shares from a phone straight to Mail or WhatsApp
- Turn the link off at any time from your dashboard, and it stops working straight away
- Already hosting the PDF? Turn on its signing link from its settings instead of uploading it again
How it works
- 1
Drop in your PDF
Choose the PDF that needs signing. It is hosted in your peadf account, so sign up free or log in when asked.
- 2
Send the signing link
Copy the link, or press Email it to open a message with the link already written, and send it to the person who needs to sign.
- 3
They sign in their browser
The signer opens the link, adds their signature and downloads the signed copy. They need no account and nothing to install.
- 4
Get the signed copy back
They send the signed PDF back to you, for example as a reply to your message. Turn the link off in your dashboard once you have it.
Send for Signature FAQ
Does the person signing need an account?
No. They open the link in any browser, add their signature and download the signed copy, with nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. Only the sender needs a peadf account, because the PDF is hosted in it so the link has something to open. The free plan is enough.
How do I get the signed PDF back?
The signer sends it back to you. When they finish, they download the signed copy, or share it from their phone to Mail or WhatsApp, and reply to your message with it. peadf doesn't collect signed copies or tell you when someone has signed, so say how you want it returned when you send the link.
Is it a legally binding e-signature?
It adds a visible signature to the page. That is an electronic signature in the everyday sense, and for many forms and agreements it is all that is needed. There is no certificate and no audit trail recording who signed and when, so for contracts where you may need to prove who signed, use a dedicated e-signature service. If you are unsure what your document needs, check before sending.
Can several people sign the same PDF?
Yes, one after another. Each person who opens the link signs their own copy, so signatures are not combined automatically. To collect them on one document, replace the PDF in your dashboard with the first person's signed copy, then send the same link to the next signer. The link stays the same when the file changes.
Can I stop the link working?
Yes. Turn the signing link off in the PDF's settings and it stops working straight away, for everyone. Copies that people already downloaded stay with them. While the link is on, anyone who has it can sign a copy, so send it only to the people who need to sign.
Can I send a password-protected PDF for signature?
No. The signature is added in the signer's browser, which cannot change an encrypted PDF without its password, so signing links only work on PDFs without one. Send a copy without the password, then protect the signed version afterwards with Protect PDF if you need to.
What does it cost?
Signing links work on every peadf plan, including the free one, which hosts up to 5 PDFs. The person signing never pays and never signs up. Paid plans raise the number of PDFs you can host.
