How do I tick a checkbox in a PDF?
Open the PDF in peadf and click the box. The tick snaps into it at the right size and position. If the box is a real form field it is set to checked properly; if it is just printed on a scan, the tick is drawn into place.
Will other PDF readers show the box as ticked?
Yes. For real form fields peadf sets the field value rather than drawing over it, so Acrobat, Preview and browser viewers all show it as checked.
My form is a scan with printed boxes. Does that work?
Yes. Clicking a printed box places a tick fitted to it, so a scanned or photographed form fills in as neatly as a digital one.
Can I untick a box?
Yes. Click it again to clear it, on both real form fields and printed boxes.
